Drop-In Guided Meditation

led by our Lay Sangha

Wednesdays, 7:00pm – 8:00pm, Pacific Time
in person at the center

Program Category: Meditation

Our Wednesday Drop-In Guided Meditation sessions provide an ideal environment for new students to learn how to meditate, and for seasoned meditators to deepen their practice.

We use meditation to work with our minds and to cultivate the potential of the mind to experience more happiness. Both neuroscience and medical research have studied the effects of meditation and discovered many benefits of this practice. These include stress reduction, lower blood pressure, increased attention, less anger, greater positive mental states, and an increase in our capacity for peace and happiness.
Beyond that, meditation is an essential part of our spiritual practice if we are wanting to attain spiritual realizations.

No prior experience meditation is required.

Our Meditation Leaders

Rosemary Berwald

Rosemary Berwald has been seriously meditating for many years. She has attended the Discovering Buddhism classes at our center as well as some of the Basic Program modules.

Casey Chainee

Casey Chainee began meditating at the age of 15 when she was initiated into a meditation technique by her teacher. She has been meditating ever since. For about 10 years, she taught mindfulness meditation in the Campbell area. She's also an energy healer, writer, and mindfulness mentor.

In addition to completing the Discovering Buddhism course at OCBC, she has also taken some Basic Program courses. She continues to study and retreat with several Buddhist teachers and organizations.

Bay

Bay began her Tibetan Buddhist studies at Ocean of Compassion Buddhist Center, taking her first Discovering Buddhism course in 2004 with Venerable Drimay. She is currently enrolled in the FPMT Basic Program, a five-year in-depth Buddhist studies course under the guidance of Geshe Tenzin Namdak. Bay has also trained in facilitating trauma-informed mindfulness and compassion meditation.

In addition to her studies, Bay volunteers as the Spiritual Program Coordinator and serves on the Board of Directors at Ocean of Compassion.
