Discovering Buddhism, Module 11
Transforming Problems
Tuesdays, 7:00pm – 9:00pm
September 3 – November 5, 2019
(8 classes)
no class September 24 and October 8
Practice Day: Saturday, November 9
10:30am – 3:30pm
In this Discovering Buddhism Module, we will look at ways to
transform our thoughts, using methods known as mind
training. We will look at the source of our problems, and
in doing that we can reduce them, and actually transform
them into the causes for our own happiness. This in turn,
leads to our ability to cherish and support others more
naturally and effectively.
In this course, you will learn meditations as well as other
techniques which can be used throughout your day to help
create the transformation and happiness you seek. This
course includes lecture, meditation and plenty of time for
questions and answers.
Everyone is welcome!
Although it is part of the Discovering Buddhism program,
anyone is welcome to attend — you do not have to have
attended previous modules.
Having a long-held interest in the mind's capacity for
transformation, Ven. Gyalten Palmo left home to spend 4½
months in India with an enlightened master in the late
1970's. Ven. Palmo started studying Tibetan Buddhism at the
turn of the century. She has studied closely under Ribur
Rinpoche, Choden Rinpoche, Geshe Ngawang Dakpa and Lama Zopa
Rinpoche. She went on to complete the Foundation for the
Preservation of the Mahayana Tradition's (FPMT) Basic
Program coursework and retreats. In 2012, she was ordained
by Choden Rinpoche at Sera Jey Monastic University in India.
As an FPMT-registered teacher, she has been teaching
Discovering Buddhism regularly at Tse Chen Ling Center in
San Francisco since 2013. Ven. Palmo loves studying and
sharing the Dharma with others.
