Discovering Buddhism, Module 13
Introduction to Tantra
Tuesdays,
November 26 – December 17, 2013
7:00pm – 9:00pm
We are delighted that Jon Landaw, editor of the book
"Introduction to Tantra", will be teaching this module on
tantra! Tantra (or Vajrayana) is regarded as the most
advanced Buddhist vehicle to enlightenment. In this module
learn what makes it such a powerful form of practice. Get a
broad overview of the four classes of tantra and be
introduced to a simple meditation patterned on basic tantric
methods. In addition, find out how to integrate the
practices of tantra with lam-rim meditation for optimal
results.
Recommended books:
- "Introduction to Tantra" by Lama Thubten Yeshe.
- "Liberation in the Palm of Your Hand" by Pabongka Rinpoche, pages 707–708.
Pre-requisite: Although it would be excellent if students enrolling in this course have taken refuge in the Three Jewels, anyone with sincere interest in benefiting both themselves and others is welcome to attend.
Jon Landaw is known for his ability to present traditional Buddhist ideas in ways that are accessible and relevant for everyday life. He is also the author of “Prince Siddhartha,” a biography of Buddha for children, “Images of Enlightenment,” published by Snow Lion in 1993 and “Buddhism for Dummies”.
