“What is a Real Holiday?”

an open talk by Venerable Drimay

Tuesday, December 13, 7pm to 8:30pm

Coming up to the holidays, I was inspired to look at some of the material in a talk by Lama Zopa Rinpoche from the Light of the Path teachings. Here he is using the word “holiday” in the sense of vacation or break.

Rinpoche says,

Up until now we have never had even one moment’s break, one moment’s holiday from the suffering of samsara. That doesn’t mean that we are constantly experiencing the suffering of pain, or even the second type of suffering, the suffering of change, but the third one, pervasive compounding suffering; we have never had a break from that. . . If one needs a real holiday, a real vacation from samsara, one needs to practice Dharma.

What is the main cause of our problems, making us so tired and miserable that we always feel we need a break? In this one-evening talk, we will look more at what it is we need to take a break from and how to do that. There are slightly different answers from the points of view of the open teachings and the secret teachings of Buddhism. Come find out what they are.

All are welcome. No need to pre-register for this open talk.

Donation:  $15.  No one turned away due to lack of funds. Your generous contributions help to keep the Dharma center open. The reception desk can accept cash, checks, or credit cards.
