Join Evelyn Neely as she leads this class in Yoga basics, focused on Hatha Yoga poses with emphasis on the details of specific postures, alignment, breathing and relaxation techniques.

The student will be gently guided into a quiet, grounded practice which celebrates the meditative, peaceful qualities of classical yoga. This is a great way to learn the basics and build a solid foundation from the ground up.

Evelyn Neely has practiced yoga for over eleven years and shares her love of yoga with students at local fitness centers and yoga studios.  She completed her Yoga Alliance teacher training certification through Joy of Yoga with her teacher, Jennifer Prugh inSan Jose.  She also has completed a 100-hour Anusara Immersion course with Certified Anusara Teacher, Ken Graham, and has studied with Anusara Yoga founder, John Friend and other well-known Anusara Teachers as Desiree Rumbaugh, Sianna Sherman, Darren Rhodes and Laura Christensen.  Evelyn also volunteers as a docent at the San Jose Museum of Art as well as serving on the Museum’s Board of Trustees.  She says that art and om just about make up her life!

1 hour Basic Hatha yoga practice

This class is open to anyone and everyone dealing with addictions to substances or behaviors.  It is also open to those who are in relationship to people who have these addictions.  Spouses, children, friends and family are all affected by the addictive attitudes and behaviors of the people they love. Discussing the impacts and sharing positive solutions is useful and necessary.  Releasing the trauma and memories from our bodies is a key component to finding recovery in body mind and spirit.  Join this class to find additional tool to relieve the pain and suffering that addiction brings.

Kyczy Hawk, RYT 200,  has studied with Nikki Myers, Durga Leela and Annalisa Cunningham gaining a deep well rounded understanding of relationship between yoga and recovery.  She teaches an ongoing Y12SR; Yoga and 12 Step Recovery class, yoga for those in recovery as well as conventional yoga classes at Willow Glen Yoga. She also teaches for well known non-profits such as The Art of Yoga Project and the Niroga Institute. She has written a book, Yoga and the 12 Step Path, published by Central Recovery Press, due out in April 2012.
